is it something I'm missing? Am I the stupid one? Or is it meant to be that way? It's clearly known by some in-universe. I feel such frustration from this, because they seem like such a cool and mysterious concept, but there's never an answer given. "They're human"? No, they're clearly not! by the end, none of these were answered in the slightest.ġ-Despite my question being asked word for word a good couple of times throughout (by Misato, who eventually became my favorite character simply for the fact that she asked what was going on), this, I feel, was never actually revealed, only given the vaguest of hints. Not my only ones, far from it, but the ones that seemed most important were:Ģ-On the other end, what are the Angels? Where do they come from? What do they want?ģ-This one was more personal, admittedly, but- why is it only teenagers that can pilot the Evas? What makes Shinji/Rei/Asuka/Toji so special?Īnd. I thought everything had been set up masterfully, and I had a few burning questions that I was sure would be answered by the end. And from the first couple of episodes, I was hooked. I knew nothing about the plot, I didn't even know Asuka was from this series until she appeared. With that said, I'm going to try and make clear why I thought this series fell flat for me. I understand saying this on r/evangelion probably isn't the best idea, but I just really wanted to get my thoughts out somewhere and this place is probably the best.
